A few days ago, I took a picture of the Plaza Del Rio in Riverbank in order to create a free desktop background for clients and friends. If you were in downtown Riverbank when the redevelopment was taking place, you can view the completion of the plaza in this photo. Better yet, you can download a desktop background for your computer made from the photo. The background is available in five sizes including one for your I Pod!  Here's a link to our web page containing the desktop background http://bit.ly/dgmDKa. Enjoy!

Milli-Sanders-sm.jpgChanges are taking place at The Write Design. There is a new phone number - 209.573.0092. The email address is milli@RiverbankWebDesign.com. Some of you already use this address. The main website is www.RiverbankWebDesign.com. Why the changes? We are lowering our overhead. I will be moving my business back to my home office where I have lived for the past 19 years and have worked from for 17 years. I am in the process of vacating my studio in downtown Riverbank where I have met with clients for the last two years. Although, I have very much enjoyed working downtown, I also enjoy working from home. Both locations have their advantages and disadvantages.

A smaller version of my studio is being created at home. The computer desk, file cabinets, 2 chairs, giraffe, and all the plants from my studio are being moved to my home. I am looking forward to having the same tropical modern decor in my home office that I had in my downtown studio. Thinking about the decor - sounds just like a woman, huh?  I truly enjoy my clients and look forward to continuing to serve them and new clients, too. My new updated wireless network has already been installed and works great! Riverbank Chamber member, Michael Christie, from Computer Solutions did the installation. Thanks Michael.

A Google Surprise!

writing woman small.jpgWhen I tell people I have a diploma in copywriting, most people think I obtain copyrights. Few people seem to know that a copywriter is a person who writes "copy." Copywriters are professional writers who write magazine ads, radio ads, TV ads, press releases, web content, blogs, and more. For me, being a copywriter means I can benefit my clients by providing them with relevant content for their website or advice on how to write their content.

How important is web content? If you want to get good search engine positioning, you need at least 250 words per page (excluding the "contact us" page). Five hundred words are even better. Web content is what organic search engine optimization is made of! Useful content - and lots of it - is critical to the success of your web development project.

You often read or hear about relevant and compelling content; but, what is it? Relevant and compelling content is content that is USEFUL to the reader. Your readers are interested in articles about your company, a glossary, tips, and detailed descriptions of your products and services. Granted, not everyone is a reader; however, your search engine placement is based on optimizing your site with relevant content that contains your keywords. For more tips on writing web content visit our website: http://www.RiverbankWebDesign.com.

Should you add a blog to your website?

Lately you hear alot about social media networking: Twitter, Facebook, blogging  and more. Social media consultants recommend using networking to increase your visibility. I think we can all benefit from using social media networking. In addition, I think you should use the social networking tool(s) that you will really USE on a regular basis. Starting something new and then stopping before you give it a chance to work doesn't do much to help your business. I really thought about what social media networking tool would be the best fit for me and I decided on blogging using Moveable Type. I can blog in the evening while I watch TV. This could be the right networking tool for you, too. Have you thought about adding a blog; but, you are not sure if it is a good idea. Well, here are some good reasons to be a blogger.

  • Blogging provides you a platform to reach your customers and potential customers so you can provide them with relevant business information. You can tell your customers about promotions, new products, new services, and include photos to personalize your blog even more. You also can provide your customers with tips on how to use your products and/or services.
  • Blogging can save you money and keep your customers informed. Instead of adding a bunch of pages to your website, just blog.
  • When you add a blog to your website, you enhance your search engine optimization which results in increased website visibility for your business. This ultimately leads to more internet traffic for you. Sounds good, huh?
  • Google indexes blogs daily because blogs provide fresh content. When is the last time you provided new content to your website? Would you like to increase your Google or Bing placement? Adding a blog may just be the answer for you.

We can add a custom designed blog to your website for $75 and host it for $5 a month. Call us (209.573.0092) or email me at milli@riverbankwebdesign.com for more information. We'd love to hear from you!
